Every year it gets harder and harder to find a gift for my mum for Mothers Day to show her just how much she means to me. Yes, I could get the standard flowers and chocolates but I am one of those people who likes to do things a little differently. When Pen Heaven approached me to ask me to take a look at the products in their range I was really pleased to find a few items which meant choosing something different for my lovely mum this year.
My mum used to carry pretty much anything and everything in her handbag – very Mary Poppins! I can recall a story where she took my sisters to school one day and when they got there they suddenly realised they needed some sequins. Of course, my mum was able to oblige. One thing that a mum should never be without is a pen. The Parker Jotter is a revamp of a classic and beautiful pen and come in a variety of colours – perfect for handbag coordination. It is presented in a gift box and you can have it embossed with her name. Priced from £11.99.
The Travel Set
As with all families, memories are important to us and the ability to save them is extra special. Family holidays were always a memorable time for me and, as we are all now grown up, my mum tends to enjoy short weekends away – either to come and see us or just some time out for her and my stepdad. This matching travel envelope and luggage tag from Laurige, a well-known French label, will mean that she travels in style. You can emboss with either gold or silver initials for a personal touch. Prices from £9.90
The Leather Journal
The Amalfi Refillable Leather Journal is a great way for my mum to write down any important notes or memories that she doesn’t want to forget. She can doodle or write pretty much anything and keep it safe. The journal is available in a range of sizes and colours to match any mum’s style, you can also have it embossed with her name, initials or a short phrase which may mean something to you as a family. Prices start from £29.90.
The Photo Album
As soon as I saw the Sorrento Leather Photo album, I knew this one was for my mum. After finding out just a few weeks ago – thanks to a school project which Grace completed – that my mum’s favourite colour was turquoise and seeing that this was one of the colour options, that sealed the deal. Having just had her 70th birthday at the end of last year, I haven’t had a chance to share the photos with her yet so I knew that this album would be the perfect way to do that.
All too often these days, photos are left on a computer file and, because I know that my mum likes to bring out the family photos, I knew that this album would be included in this to be filled with treasured memories. It came beautifully wrapped in silver paper with a white bow and silver tag.
Once unwrapped, I was also really pleased to see that the album was in it’s own presentation box.
I have also had it embossed in gold on the front cover and the pages each come with a protective cover.
Prices start from £34.99.
