My Most Memorable Photographs of 2016

Having already shared my most memorable posts and poems of 2016, today I share my most memorable photographs of 2016. This has to be my biggest passion right now – and the one thing I feel that I have progressed the most this year.

I think my favourite subject has to be wildlife. I find it fascinating to be able to take photographs of creatures – particularly birds – and I love the fact that they don’t pose, so every single image is a candid shot! I also enjoy a bit of still life and photoshop work too!

Patterns with Pencils

This image has to be my most successful of the year. Not only did it win Eyecatching in March in the Facebook group for A Year with My Camera with Emma Davies but it has also won Spring Selection Award in April and Member Selection Award in December with Viewbug.

Grace sees Kyrenia Harbour

Because Grace wasn’t able to come to with us to Cyprus back in March, I thought I would bring Cyprus to her by combining a photograph of Kyrenia Harbour reflecting on our car, with her looking at it from the passenger seat – thanks to the magic of Photoshop!

Sunset Over Chesil Cove

I think that this has to be my favourite sunset photo of the year. I took it near to Ross’ parents house in Portland, Dorset and Ross’ mum was very happy to receive on canvas as part of her birthday present in June.

Getting Busy With It

I know for a fact that this is one of Ross’ favourites of mine which I have taken this year. It also won favourite photo of June over on #MySundayPhoto with Darren at Photalife. It was taken in the gardens of River Cottage back in August when I was on a Gluten-Free Cookery course.

Peace of London

I think that this has to be one of my favourites of the year. I was so pleased with the composition in this photograph!

A Kingfisher at Chard Reservoir

I don’t think I have ever been so excited in all my life about taking a photograph as I was when I took this one! Thanks to not being able to get back to sleep after waking early when I was at home on my own back in August, I grabbed my camera and set off in time for the hide to open and managed to capture this beautiful Kingfisher.

Rick Astley has Angels on his Side at Rewind Festival South

Once again I was lucky enough to be able to cover Rewind Festival South back in August this year. My favourite act of the weekend was definitely Rick Astley and I was so pleased when he played his new song ‘Angels on my Side’ – one of my favourites. I was even happier to have managed to have timed this photo just right!

Giving Grace the Moon and the Stars

One of the things I have really enjoyed this year is a better understanding of Photoshop. As well as being able to transport Grace to Cyprus with us earlier in the year, I also had the ability to give Grace the moon and the stars!

Alicante: The Old and the New

I know that this is Ross’ other favourite photo of mine from the year – and I am rather pleased with it too.  Taken in Alicante, we took a trip to the top of the castle one evening where I was hoping to capture a picture of the sunset. Instead it was rather cloudy and I captured this image which, to me, depicts the old and the new of the city, with a rather dramatic sky to boot!

These are the photographs that I have taken this year which I feel are my most memorable. Do you take photographs? If so, and you have a memorable one, please link it in the comments below.

Yes, i do take photographs Victoria, but nowhere near as good as you, you certainly have talent. I love them all and would find it very difficult to pick a favourite. Merry Christmas to you, Ross and Grace and may the new year bring you many more fabulous photo opportunities, as well as many more beautiful moments to share xxx

I adore your photos and I’ve loved watching them develop over the year. You really are quite an artist with them now. Pencils and sunset are possibly my favourites but it’s hard to call.

    Merry Christmas from Coombe Mill

These are lovely photos Vicky. I love the pencils one. My camera is a point and shoot so nothing like yours! I tend to use my phone alot now that ive got a decent one. Despite that, photography can be stunning and opens up so much creatively so id love to do a proper course when i upgrade my camera! I do love instalinklove too and have discovered instagram this year.
