Christmas Still… A Poem

Christmas still brings me comfort
It’s a wonderful time of year
Despite what it’s done in the past
I look forward and don’t feel any fear

Christmas still brings me magic
Although I’m no longer young
I still listen out for the sleigh bells
And sing carols that long to be sung

Christmas still brings me hope
That life will somehow prevail
Despite the year and it’s hardships
We got through it to tell the tale

Christmas still brings me thoughts
Of those who not as lucky as me
The lonely, the sick and in danger
I try to give generously

Christmas still brings me love
Through my family, as I see them grow
Time I spend with them is precious
To my heart it brings such a glow

Christmas still brings me feelings
All of them filled with love
I still try to catch a glimpse of red
As I look to the skies above

  1. Yay Christmas! I feel exactly the same about it. Lovely poem – definitely putting it in my round up (which is running a little late!)

  2. Hi Victoria, how wonderfully you’ve captured Christmas through the eyes of an adult. I too still listen out for sleigh bells. It is also a time of year for mixed emotions; balancing enjoying the season with still remembering that not everyone is so lucky.

    xx
