Peace of Mind – Day 27 of National Poetry Writing Month #NaPoWriMo

Day 27 of National Poetry Writing. Just 3 more poems to go now! I am so pleased that I am actually going to complete this for the second time (the first being in 2013). This week has been a very busy work week and sometimes I think you just need to make sure that you take time out for yourself. Of course, the most important thing is to ensure that you have peace of mind – which I think is probably the hardest one of all.

Peace of Mind

Serenity and calm
Is all I’m looking for
It’s sometimes in my office
When I close the door

Occasionally I find it
Whilst walking down the hill
Or getting up at 7
Using the treadmill

I often find it here
When lying in my bed
Unlike our last place
The noise I’d always dread

It’s there in the countryside
Uphill and down dale
I find it on the beach
As waves wash upon the shale

But really what I want
Is the peace inside my head
For this, maybe, I need to look
Somewhere else instead
