Whenever you move to a new house, you always want to carry out the little jobs that make it your own. Hang your own curtains, put up pictures, maybe change the carpets. The possibilities are endless. That is, if you get off your backside and do it.
I have decided on a couple of things. Firstly, I need to be far more proficient with any type of power tool. Secondly, if I write a list here of what I still need to do then, maybe, just maybe, I will actually get it done!
1. Put up the bathroom cabinet
Around three months after moving to our house, we used our Argos voucher we received for Christmas that year to purchase a lovely chrome bathroom cabinet. At present, it is still sitting on our bathroom window sill!
2. Put up Grace’s IKEA shelves
These have been around for at least a year now – and are still sitting under Grace’s bed. As a result, she has a VERY tall table which reaches her elevated bed position. She has all but given up bugging me about putting them up now.
3. Hang various pictures
We have a number of lovely canvas prints that Ross and I have got for each other as gifts over the last 6 months. They have pride of place…in our spare room on the floor. They need to be put up so that we can enjoy them properly! (oh, and note the coat hooks inside the shelves too!).
4. Install the cat flap
Originally a house cat when we moved here, Gyspy, our cat, has now been going out every day since last April. We have been opening our conservatory door to let her out and agreed that we would get a cat flap sorted. We almost got this resolved last summer when we had to get a quote sorted but then winter came along and, well, we didn’t bother! Now I am finally in the process of getting this done.
Am I the only one who has untouched DIY jobs? What about you?
