For the last couple of weeks I haven’t really seen Ross. He has been out and about working very hard to support our little family and I am so proud of him. Last week he had 2 days worth of acting work, was MCing a party over the weekend in the Cotswolds and this week he was up in Berkshire meeting a potential client and is on an acting job in Bristol. I miss him but I also know how hard he works. He also earns most of the money and pays for the lions share of the bills.
Waitrose are currently running a champagne ‘thank you’ campaign, and they offered me the opportunity to receive a bottle of bubbly and some vouchers in order to show my appreciation by sharing a special meal with the added benefit of a bottle of champagne. After all Ross has done over the past week – and beyond – he certainly deserves it.
So, this is what I will be cooking for him tomorrow evening:
Yummy, huh? Even more important I do this now as it looks like he might be away again Friday too!
When I went off to shop in Waitrose, Crewkerne, this morning I was really chuffed to see that they are also doing a special meal deal on stickered products from their chinese food range. Two mains, a side and a rice for £8. Bargain! This not only meant that I could push the boat out a little more and get some lovely Orkney dressed crab and some chinese chicken dumplings but we would also be able to celebrate Chinese New Year 🙂 For pudding we have a gorgeous looking Passion Fruit Pana Cotta.
Tomorrow evening, before Ross gets home, I shall be getting the table laid and lighting some candles as well as putting on some nice, relaxing music ready for him to be able to chill out when he gets home.
I have also considered doing something a little bit different with the champagne. Waitrose say that there are lots of different ways to serve your champagne, from champagne cocktails to specific foods which taste amazing with bubbly, and even using champagne as an ingredient for your cooking. They’ve created a helpful ‘champagne thank you’ page which offers some great suggestions for occasions to celebrate, which foods complement champagne and recipes on how to create them. You can find all the information here: http://www.waitrose.com/home/inspiration/champagne/champagne-recipes.html
I particularly liked the look of the Champagne cocktails and may just have to nip out for a bottle of Grand Marnier before the man of the house gets back!
Who would you want to say ‘thank you’ to?
Disclaimer: I was sent a bottle of champagne together with £25 worth of vouchers to purchase the food for the meal. Please note that all words and opinions are my own, I have not received any extra money to write this post and I have not been influenced in any way.
