Get Rid of the Old, Make Room for the New – Make Money in the Process!

Some of our DVD stash!

With Christmas on its way…yes, I said Christmas!!…I find that one of the easiest presents to ask for is a DVD of my favourite film or TV series but with the fact that we now have both a YouView box with BT Vision and NowTV as well as a free subscription to NetFlix we seem to have an awful lot of surplus DVDs with not much room. As well as all of that, one of the shelves on our units is starting to bend under the sheer weight of the films we have!

So, what is the best solution in all of this? Do we really need more DVDs that will sit on the shelves that, once they have been watched, will start to gather dust? Not really, no. The DVDs we are likely to keep are the ones that Grace watches time and again. I remember when I was a child that I had my favourites that I would watch and know off by heart and there are still ones that I class as my ‘go to’ movies. The ones that, if I wanted to just sit on the sofa on a rainy Sunday afternoon and not think too hard about, the ones I watch when I am ill, the ones we would watch as a family.

With Christmas approaching there is a simple sum to all of this. Of course I would like to make money to buy presents ADD I have DVD’s and games I don’t need EQUALS selling the items I don’t need for money! And there you have it. Make more money to buy presents, make more room by getting rid of DVDs, make more room for the new DVDs I do get. It’s a win, win, win situation!! With sites like Music Magpie this is easily achievable.

There are also some duplicate DVDs that I can get rid of that Ross and I both had before we met (great minds think alike!), plus we have a number of computer games we don’t use any more that are also taking up valuable shelf room. Add to all of that a number of films and cartoons that Grace continues to tell me are too babyish for her (sorry Peppa Pig!).

Oh, and Ross, if you are reading this dearest I would love to receive Walking Dead Season 3, Greys Anatomy Season 9 and Game of Thrones Season 3. Grace, if you are reading this then yes I know you would like any of the Monster High DVDs!
