We have already had our family holiday this year and, as we took it abroad, I shall miss the traditional British holiday season sitting on a beach with sand in your shoes licking on a Mr Whippy.
But if we were to take a family summer holiday in the UK then where would we go? Well, with all the choice, entertainment and offers that Butlins provide, I would certainly look at choosing this stalwart of the UK Holiday market.
Over the last few years, Butlins has undergone some major fantastic changes. They offer an amazing array of different types and styles of entertainment if you were to stay with them – many of them included in the price of your stay. This summer they have acts from China, Russia and South America joining some of the traditional British entertainers to bring you a Big Top Circus, the Shaolin Wheel of Life, the comedian Stephen Mulhern and Crazy Dunkers – a team of NBA stars performing some incredible ball skills.
All 3 of Butlins resorts have some watery fun for all the family with a Splash Waterworld. There are flumes, waterfalls, fountains, water cannons, aqua walkers and kayaks and the Skegness resort has just opened and boasts it own DJ booth.
There is a large amount of family activities and sports coaching on offer which includes a bouncing pillow at Minehead, bungee trampolines, a silent disco and professional coaches who offer sessions on fencing, archery and football.
Butlins also offer an indoor fairground specifically for the little ones in mind and for the older children there is all the fun of the fair with outdoor rides such as the Skymaster – not for the faint hearted – and the Chairoplane.
I haven’t been to Butlins since my teens and they didn’t offer all this incredible variety in those days – I fear I may be showing my age here! But with all this on offer I would certainly love to go back one day.
