One of the things you first notice when you move into a new home is when it comes to bedtime and there are no curtains!
It really isn’t something that crosses your mind in the throws of a move as you pack your worldly and precious possessions at the other end, making sure that the breakables are as wrapped and protected as they can be. That you have made sure that the box isn’t too heavy and a sufficient amount of brown tape is holding it all together. This time around I used towels and clothes and, yes that’s right, curtains to wrap all those precious glass and china items in, which didn’t make them easy to find when we got to the new house.
I say all this, but we only had two sets of curtains to wrap things in as either the others were a) staying or b) venetian blinds – which aren’t much good for wrapping things in, believe me! And two sets of curtains are not enough when you are moving to a bigger house with more windows and absolutely no curtains left behind. You have to be ruddy careful not to put the light on in the bedroom when coming back from having a bath, I can tell you!
So, what to do about the curtain quandary? Well I’ve found some great curtains by Littlewoods. They have some beautiful designs at really great prices which are also varied in length – something I didn’t think about when we moved! For example, take the design in the photo above. These would look great at our full length doors which lead into our new conservatory and would match the decoration perfectly.
Whilst the ones we brought with us look great in our bedroom, at the moment we have some real mismatch ones up in Grace’s room. I have seen some beautiful butterfly curtains which would look fab. I don’t think she would thank me for getting her Spiderman ones!
