Today I have started a new diet for busy Mums. A couple of weeks ago Melanie Peake advertised on BritMums for women who just don’t get to the gym because they are too busy and also want to start a healthy eating regime to gain more energy and get fit. Yep, sounds like me! The diet is Fitness for Mums at Home and Mel claims that in 21 days you can drop a dress size and a ton of body fat from your bum, tummy and thighs….and I shall be a guinea pig in putting her program to the test for the next three weeks.
As you may recall, I started the Dukan Diet just before Christmas and did REALLY well and I am still doing OK BUT I don’t have any energy, I’m always tired, I go to bed too late, I don’t drink enough water, I don’t feel healthy….and, well, the list goes on really. Don’t get me wrong, the Dukan Diet was good and worked and it’s fine. But I now miss the gym and I miss my salads and with the promise of a holiday after our move in June, I want to look gooood!
Once I had signed up for Fitness For Mums At Home, I was given access to the Preparation Area where an abundance of information and suggestions are there for you. I watched all the videos over the weekend (did you know that margarine shares 15 ingredients with paint?!), downloaded the meal plan, bought the supplements and then yesterday I was given access to the first set of exercises together with the video library to ensure I knew how to do them. I am also a member of the Facebook group for people on the program where members share their thoughts and ideas.
To start the program we had to fill in a short questionnaire and provide photos of front, side and rear (no, I am not showing you now, you’ll have to wait until the end!). We had to provide our measurements which Mel feels is more relevant than weight and I’m inclined to agree with her. We also had to answer how we were feeling, what we wanted to achieve and what sort of time we currently went to bed, amongst other questions.
So, my program began this morning. The food is lovely. I didn’t realise how delicious organic tomatoes were. I’ve drunk so much water I believe that I have spent most of the day in the toilet! I did my exercises this afternoon and they hurt but that means they are helping, right?! One small mishap – I decided that after I’d done my exercises I would reward myself with a blueberry smoothie. I put all the ingredients in the blender, switched it on and then, for some reason, the bottom fell off the blender resulting in the ingredients all over the work surface! Gutted.
This evening I ache from the exercises in a good way, I feel more alert and one of the conditions of being on the diet is getting an early night. Which I fully intend to do.
I won’t be sharing my ‘before’ photos or measurements until the end of the diet so come back in twenty one days to see how I’ve done.
