Monkey Magic. A Review of the new Walkers Hoops and Crosses.

On Saturday a neat little green box arrived. I knew straight away what it was but decided that the latest surprise should wait until we got back from our day out.

When we returned, it was the first thing Grace asked about. ‘Can I try those crisps Mum? And can I see what the surprise inside is please?’ Needing a snack after a long walk round the woods, I agreed. Upon opening the box we found a cardboard book, which is a bit young for Grace and she completely disregarded it.

The next layer wasn’t just a packet of the new Walkers Hoops and Crosses crisps, there was also one of the cutest monkey cuddly toys I have ever seen. Grace was thrilled.

We had the roast beef flavour as our test packet. Walkers say ‘We understand kids can be cheeky monkeys when it comes to eating what parents put in their lunchboxes. Which is why we’ve created new Walkers Baked Hoops & Crosses – a great-tasting, low-fat and fun way for kids to boost their wholegrain intake’. Hoops and Crosses are made from wholegrains and have no artificial colours or preservatives. Each bag is 85 calories and they come in three great flavours (all suitable for vegetarians) – roast beef, prawn cocktail and salt and vinegar.

Ross and I tried a few and left Grace the rest of the packet. She lay on the sofa eating her new crisps and cuddling ‘Metro the Monkey’. The crisps were gone in the blink of an eye!

My opinion was that they tasted very much like Monster Munch – although I have to say that I much prefer the hoops and crosses. I liked the fun shapes and we all agreed that they tasted good. Thankfully Grace has just started having packed lunches at school so these are another option on our menu plan.
So overall, the crisps are definitely a hit! The only negative? We only had one small bag to share between us!
As for Metro the Monkey, she hasn’t seemed to leave Grace’s side since Saturday night. Not only did she have pride of place behind the cushion with Grace when watching Dr Who, she was  also tucked up in bed with Grace that night. Thank you Walkers!

Disclosure: We were sent a box containing the crisps and a gift and I have also received monetary compensation for writing this post. All words and opinions are my own and have not been influenced in any way.
