Girls Talk – a Wot So Funee Post

After the last two weeks of video interviews, this week sees our funee returning back to the good old written – or in Grace’s case, spoken – word!

The other day we were watching tv – I couldn’t tell you what, some wildlife programme – when a lizard appeared on the screen. In her grown-up, matter-of-fact voice she said ‘Well, you don’t see many of those around these days’.

Last week on our commute, we passed a tree that had been cut down. Grace is a big lover of nature and was completely devasted. ‘But Mum’ she cried ‘this is terrible. There were most likely birds nests in there and those are birds homes and now the tree has been knocked down and now they are homeless and they have nowhere to live and if they fell their wings might have been hurt and then they can’t fly and they will have to walk and their legs aren’t very strong and then they might die!’ Yep, there’s a drama queen right there!

Then, the other day, the cats were meowing at us far too early for their tea. Grace said to me ‘Mum, they are going too far and really pushing their luck now! They think we will always forget that we have fed them so then they try their luck to get more food but it really doesn’t work that way!’.

We went to my Mums on Sunday for Easter lunch. Grace and her cousin, Emily were playing in the back room. She said to Grandad ‘Go away please, we want to be left alone. Oh, but we will come and get you when we need scissors!’

Finally, a couple of weeks ago, we were doing our usual commute to school when Adele’s song ‘Skyfall’ came on the radio. Grace started to discuss the origin of it with me and how it won an Oscar. ‘Well, of course, you do realise Mum’ she said, knowledgeably ‘the only reason she actually won was because she was working with a famous person’. ‘Really? Who was that then?’ I asked. ‘Mum, you must know! James Bong!’

Hehe I had no idea about James Bong, but it does make sense if you think about it. I love how she’s been having a good think about the cats master plan 🙂
