Dukan? You Can! My Diet Journey – Week 9

I can’t believe we are now nine weeks in – and my diet journey is still keeping on keeping on. This week has been all about the exercise as far as I’m concerned. We’ve got the food malarkey cracked! I look upon certain things – like a coffee or a mug of cocoa – as my ‘treats’ to stay on target.

As mentioned in last week’s post, I joined a new gym last week and on Monday I had my first personal trainer session. My goodness, it was HARD! I started off on my equipment of choice – the good old cross trainer. Once I had warmed up then it was onto a circuit of different weights as I had explained that I wanted to tone up my bum and my arms mainly. Upon completing the weights, I moved onto a machine which basically mimicked a downhill ski slalom! The trainer was shouting at me (in a positive way!) to keep going. I just wanted to shout back ‘Shut up!’ I really don’t enjoy being told what to do at the gym but it’s for my own good I guess!

Two days after the induction, my legs and arms felt like they were carrying lead weights in them. I felt muscles in my body I hadn’t realised existed and, with the feeling remaining yesterday morning, I went back for more. I knew I just had to push through and do the same again for it to have any effect. I am glad to say I made it through and lived to tell the tale.  I am hoping that the more I do this, the less I will feel like I can’t walk!

I haven’t measured my inches for a while but I did yesterday and am pleased to see that I have lost an inch off my waist, stomach and hips! I am also getting told by many people that there is a noticeable change in the shape of my face. It’s much slimmer and my cheek bones and jaw line are far more prominent than they were previously. I am also noticing how baggy my clothes are becoming. Even my jogging trousers at the gym yesterday looked too big – and they were a snug fit a few weeks back!

I have to admit that I went into Next the other day just to try on a pair of their size 12 jeans in a bid to prove a point to myself. I am pleased to confirm that they fitted with room to spare!

It sort of feels like I am boasting but, honestly, if I can do it so can you! I understand from a couple of people that I have inspired them and helped them look at their diet which I am really chuffed about. I would particularly like to say thank you to Jaime from The Olivers Madhouse who mentioned me in her weightloss journey post yesterday.

So, have the efforts of the gym this week paid off? Here are the scores on the doors:

  • Last Friday: 151.0lbs
  • This Friday: 149.8lbs
  • Loss for the week: 1.2lbs
  • Total loss so far: 15.6lbs
  • Total to go: 4.8lbs

I’m figuring/hoping that in another two weeks I will meet my target.

    yay!! another loss well done! i hope your not aching too much from the gym! 2 weeks and hitting your target it fab!
