Dukan? You Can! My Diet Journey Week 7

A recap for the start of 2013. I started the Dukan Diet on 19th November 2012.  When I started I was 165.4lbs and my target weight is 145.0lbs. I started on the attack phase, am currently on the cruise phase and the next phase is consolidation – although due to Christmas and New Year I may have to delay this phase. My aim is to lose a total of 20.4lbs and then stay there, or thereabouts! For where I am now, please see the bottom of this post.

This week has been a real mixed bag with regards to my diet. I went back to pure protein the day after Boxing Day and stayed on it until Sunday evening when I decided to have a couple of chocolates. Food mainly consisted of chicken and more chicken!

On New Years Eve, Ross and I were working. We were DJing at ‘The Two Poplars’, a pub in Wokingham around 5 minutes drive away. I knew that by doing this and making sure I was driving that I would not drink too much. I had half a glass of wine and the rest of the time I was on Diet Coke. They also laid out a buffet. The food was OK but not so good that I wanted to go back for anymore so that helped. By the time we left it was 2.45am. As we went out into the car park I was shocked to hear the birds singing!

On the drive home Ross, who had around 4 beers, decided he would like more than just the plate of food from the pub (not that he had that much!), and decided to stop at the local kebab van for a burger and chips. I decided it was far too late for me to be awake let alone eat so I just had a few chocolates when we got home.

On New Years Day we had Ross’ friend, Andrew, round for the evening. I did roast beef and, whilst the guys had potatoes and veg, I stuck with just beef with a side of fromage frais mixed with horseradish sauce! I then let myself off the alcohol ban and had three small glasses of wine and a few chocolates.

Wednesday was Grace’s birthday. I had two banned foods. One was a slice of Grace’s birthday cake and the other was a small amount of rice with some chicken curry. Ross had a little more rice and curry than me.

Finally, yesterday was Grace’s party. I hardly ate anything as I really had no appetite. Following a party get-together at Build A Bear in Reading, her tea was at the local Pizza Hut. With five adults as well as five children, we decided to order some nibbles whilst the children ate. We had some nachos with cheese, sour cream and salsa as well as some garlic bread (some with cheese). I had a small amount of each. Ross also ate the rest of Grace’s spaghetti bolognese and most of one of the children’s bowl of dessert from the ice cream factory which included ice cream, chocolate sauce and chocolate buttons. As you have probably gathered, Ross has decided not to go back to the strict guidelines just yet and also had a KFC and beers last night. I had a small amount of chicken and chips and stuck to the diet coke.

Our exercise regime has improved this week. I have completed a total of 1 hour and 31 minutes of exercise and travelled 4.5km using the cross-trainer. Finally, my gorgeous new running shoes have been put to good use thanks to www.sportsshoes.com/running. They are a fantastic fit, feeling like they are moulded to my feet, and are very comfortable.

I am very pleased that my weight has improved since last Friday. There were a couple of days that it stayed the same this week, and, getting an unexpected period certainly affected this I believe.

The summary for the first week of the New Year is:

  • Last Friday: 155.8lbs
  • This Friday:  154.6lbs
  • Loss for the week: 1.2lbs
  • Total loss so far: 10.8lbs
  • Total to go: 9.6lbs

Due to the festive period, I may have to extend this phase of the diet but I am pleased to start the year down on where I was last week!

      Thanks! :), I usually do too but I seem to be taking it a bit more seriously this year – I guess time is pressing on – aint as young as I used to be (well, in age anyway!!).

      Thank you honey, it hasn’t been easy at all and getting back on the straight and narrow has been a bit wonky!! Just thinking of the rewards I can reap once I’m done 😉

    It’s always hard to resist temptation over Christmas & New year….Especially alcohol & all the sweet treats but you did great!! Well done you!! Good luck with reaching your target weight x
