Since starting this diet, I have started to feel like everyday is an episode of Masterchef in our house! Trying to find different ways to cook meat with limited ingredients certainly is making life interesting! I always look forward to protein and vegetable day to bring more choices to our meals.
Saying that I have learnt how to make very healthy chocolate puddings using reduced fat cocoa powder and also make my own version of hollandaise sauce which is very yummy! I have also brought back oyster sauce into my diet after an absence of nearly two decades. Ross has had the opportunity to try sole and mackerel which he can’t remember ever eating but seemed to enjoy.
This last week was a challenge for us as it was the first time we have had to eat out. For Ross it was just the once, for me it was twice. It didn’t make it any easier that both times were protein only days.
The first time was last weekend at Bocketts Farm. We tried to get a coffee but gave up when they only had semi-skimmed milk. At lunchtime, Grace was catered for with macaroni cheese but Ross and I settled for the egg and sausage delight! Delight because our 3 sausages were cut up and sprinkled over the top of our two fried eggs (I say 3 but we are convinced it was only 2 sausages!!). We also drank herbal tea, which we are really getting into these days.
Then last night I went to meet up with some girlfriends I haven’t seen in over 3 years and we went for a curry. This wasn’t as hard as I thought it was going to be. We all had loads to catch up on so there was more talking than eating. As a result I managed to avoid the poppadums! I went for a tandoori mixed grill with a side of chicken tikka. Delicious! Maybe this diet isn’t so bad after all.
I’m ashamed to say that I didn’t venture to the gym this week. Ross did and set a personal best. I have done a lot more walking around this week though and Professo Dukan does state that this counts!
I am really chuffed that this week I am the lowest weight I have been all year. I have lost another inch off my stomach an half an inch off my waist. The jeans that were a perfect fit 4 weeks ago, I can now get off without having to undo them! This diet really is working.
There has been a number of times when Ross and I have wanted to give up but we continue to encourage each other and keep each other motivated.
I am also now at the stage where I believe that it will get harder to lose the weight, the closer I get to my target. Perseverance is the name of the game!
This mornings weigh in was 155.6lbs despite no gym – plus I was on my Mum’s scales so I don’t know how different they are!
Incidentally, I am very proud of Ross. He has lost 14lbs so far.
- Last Friday: 160lbs
- This Friday: 155.6lbs
- Loss for the week:4.4lbs
- Total loss so far: 9.8lbs
- Total to go: 10.6lbs
Hoping to be over halfway next week!
